The FBM KLCI index gained 4.12 points or 0.23% on Tuesday. The Finance Index increased 0.44% to 16101.18 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.48% to 1326.69 points and the Plantation Index rose 0.14% to 7973.57 points.Read More

Daily Market Commentary (Securities)

The FBM KLCI index gained 4.29 points or 0.24% on Wednesday. The Finance Index increased 0.01% to 16103.45 points, the Properties Index up 0.01% to 1326.84 points and the Plantation Index rose 0.19% to 7988.44 points. The market traded within a range of 6.87 points between an intra-day high of 1826.05 and a low of 1819.18 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include NEXGRAM, ASIABIO, WINTONI, DGSB, KGROUP, HUBLINE, MARCO, PESONA-WC, JASKITA and PRIVA. Trading volume decreased to 2118.82 mil shares worth RM2155.94 mil as compared to Tuesday’s 2831.08 mil shares worth RM2347.01 mil.

Leading Movers were YTL (+4 sen to RM1.68), PPB (+28 sen to RM14.96), SKPETRO (+4 sen to RM2.64), PBBANK (+22 sen to RM18.82) and PETCHEM (+6 sen to RM5.51). Lagging Movers were GENTING (-22 sen to RM8.72), ASTRO (-3 sen to RM3.16), AMMB (-6 sen to RM6.37), MAYBANK (-7 sen to RM9.28) and BAT (-46 sen to RM68.20). Market breadth was negative with 345 gainers as compared to 473 losers.

The KLCI extended yesterday’s gains by ending 4.29 points higher at 1825.54, despite the lower overnight close on Wall Street due to slight decline in February's auto sales. The gain in our benchmark index was underpinned by buying in heavyweight counters, led by YTL Corp.
